CUP FINAL A CHANCE FOR US TO ‘EXPRESS OURSELVES’ SAYS SIDDALL

After Sunday’s ‘major’ victory at West Bromwich Albion, Women’s team defender Emma Siddall is looking forward to playing for a trophy this evening.
The Clarets face Chorley in the final of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup at the County Ground in Leyland, with kick-off at 7.30pm.
Led by Interim Head Coach Louise Roberts, Burnley put an end to a run of three straight defeats by beating the Baggies 3-0 at the weekend.
Siddall played the entirety of the game in the Midlands, and is looking forward to trying to build on the result for the rest of the season, starting tonight.
“It will be nice to get back out there,” she said.
“Midweek games are always enjoyable and because it’s a cup environment we can kind of express ourselves in a different way.
“It was major for us to get those three points after a bad month before.
“To get three goals on the board too was just what we needed to help get us through to the end of the season.”
A similarly pleasing element of Sunday’s win was the clean sheet, which was the team’s 15th of the season in all competitions and goalkeeper Kirstie Levell’s 10th.
Siddall continued: “There was a lot less pressure on us than recent weeks which allowed us to do really well, and we limited them to zero shots on target so that was perfect.
“We always approach every game with the same energy, but the second half performance in particular was definitely a step up from recent weeks.”
Having initially joined the Club on a dual registration deal from Manchester City in February 2024, Siddall became a permanent member of the Burnley family in the summer.
If selected tonight this will be her first experience of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup, with the 19-year-old not being involved in last year’s final or the 5-0 victory over AFC Fylde in January.
“I was here for last year’s final but wasn’t involved in the squad, so this could be my first proper run out in the competition,” she said.
“It will be good to be involved and if we’re able to win it, it could really give us a big push heading into the final few league games.
“We know Chorley are very direct and have a fast attack, so we’ll have a lot to do defensively.
“They’ll bring a similar game to a lot of the teams in our league, so it will be a difficult night.
“Leyland is our home and although we’ll be in the away dressing room, we’re comfortable there and it will bring some familiarity.”
The postcode for the County Ground, which is the home of the Lancashire FA, is PR25 2LF and tickets can be purchased there on the night.
Adults are £8 and concessions are £4, with cash and card payments accepted. Free parking is available on a first-come-first served basis.
