Maxwel Cornet admitted himself and the side were diasppointed to come away from Elland Road empty handed on Sunday.
Cornet was introduced after half-time and curled home a tremendous free-kick in the 54th minute, to pulls the scores level, after Jack Harrison's first-half opener.
But late goals from Stuart Dallas and Dan James sealed all three points for the hosts in a 3-1 win.
And Cornet, although grabbed his 6th goal of the campaign in fine fashion, did not come away pleased from West Yorkshire.
“We are really disappointed, we really wanted to win this game and we haven’t got a result, so it’s frustrating.
“I just took my chance; I was focused on the target and where to put it and lucky for me it found the back of the net.
Maxwel Cornet to link up with Ivory Coast
“I saw the positioning of the wall and there was a slight gap, so I hit it and it was on target for where I aimed for.
“At the end of the day, we must do better and I’m not too happy, as we haven’t got the win.
“We pushed to go on and get a second goal, we created lots of chances, but we couldn’t just find another.
“But it’s the Premier League and if you don’t score, when you have the chances, it can cost you.”
Cornet will now link up with the Ivory Coast on Monday, as the the side prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on Wednesday 15th January for the Elephants.
And the 25-year old is looking forward to the tournament, but is slightly frustrated to be missing a handful of games for the Clarets.
“It’s a very big tournament, it’s like the EURO’s over here, I’m very happy to be involved and go help my country.
“Although, I would like if I was here to help my team win some games and get more points.
“But I will be away for a little while, then be back to help this team.”
