Midfielder Jack Cork speaks ahead of this week’s double-header at Turf Moor against Southampton and Wolves.
Cork on experience:
“We – as a group – have a very experienced team. There’s a lot of people who’ve played a lot of games in this league, and we should be able to get our heads down.
“We’ve got enough people in the group [with experience] now to get results in this division, so we should be able to crack on and do it.”
Cork on Sunday’s draw with West Ham United:
“It was just one of those games. I felt we were in control in the first half, we had good shape and I thought we were unlucky [not to win].
“We can’t dwell on it though, we’ve got Southampton on Thursday and Wolves on Sunday. They’re two massive games that we can get points from, especially with them being at home.
“We were disappointed not to win at West Ham, but we’re all looking forward to the next seven games now.”
Cork on Ashley Westwood’s injury:
“It was difficult. When that happens in a game, it takes you by surprise and it’s not nice to see
“My family are really close with his, but hopefully it shouldn’t be too bad and it’s better than what it looked like on the pitch originally.
“Knowing his character and how he works, we’re all hoping that he’ll be back fit for next season.”
Cork on the success of both Southampton and Wolves in recent years:
“It shows how up and down the Premier League can be. You have to stick to what you’re good at.
“The Premier League is a difficult league, teams around you can have a good season and then the next doesn’t go to plan.
“It’s difficult to have consistency in the Premier League because when you’re successful, teams around you are always wanting to do what you’ve done.
“If you take your foot off the gas for a few weeks, then you’re going to start slipping.”
