Former midfielder moves from Academy into first team set-up

Burnley Football Club are pleased to announce that former midfielder and current Academy coach Jack Cork will become a member of Scott Parker’s coaching team ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Cork, who made over 250 appearances for the Clarets, joined the U21s set-up as a coach last summer, working alongside Andy Farrell. The ex-England international will now join the first team coaching staff at the Club.

The 36-year-old was a key figure in Burnley’s midfield during a five-year spell in the Premier League and he will now look to bring his coaching knowledge and playing experience to the squad.

After making the transition from the academy to the first team, Cork said: "It's a really exciting moment for me to be honest, I'm still quite new to coaching.

"We had a really good year last season with the U21s. I really enjoyed my first season in coaching, working alongside the likes of Andy Farrell, Tony Philliskirk and Matt Walsh.

"Then the Manager rang me in the summer to say there would be some changes within the coaching set-up and asked if I would be interested in moving over and being around the first team.

"It was an amazing opportunity I couldn't turn down. I'm early on in my coaching journey but I really appreciate being given the chance and I can't wait to start."
