Jack Cork is well on the way to recovery but will need some game-time before making a first-team comeback.
Cork is yet to feature this season after suffering a fracture in his foot at Crystal Palace in June.
But the midfielder – whose absence post lockdown took the total of Premier League fixtures missed in his first three seasons back at Turf Moor to just nine – is training with the Clarets' senior squad.
And manager Sean Dyche is looking to pencil in some match practice this month to get the 31-year-old up to speed.
“Corky is making good progress but he definitely needs some games,” said the Burnley boss.
“It’s good to see him back out there and, so far, no reaction, which is good.

“The first thing is to make sure he’s properly fit and well.
“He’s been out with a tricky injury, which needed some real care and attention, which he has done brilliantly with, along with the medical team.
“And now it’s about having a common-sense approach to it. He’s going to need some football.
“I’ve always been a believer that players deserve the right to be fully fit when they play.
“We’ve tried to get that here. It’s very rare I’ve ever asked anything of a player when they’re not quite fit or physically right.
“We certainly want him to be 100 per cent, or as close, to that as can be before he gets on the pitch with the real stuff.”
As well as Cork’s absence, the Clarets have also felt the loss of summer signing Dale Stephens in their midfield department.
The former Brighton man has resumed full training but may also be given a run-out before being back to challenge for a place.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson is also unlikely to figure at Arsenal on Sunday evening as he is given more recovery time following a hamstring issue.
But Phil Bardsley is back in contention as the Clarets look for their first away win of the season after a back problem delayed his return to duty.
