Jack Cork was on cloud nine following Burnley's win over Middlesbrough, which saw the Lancashire side promoted to the Premier League, setting a record with seven games still to go this campaign.

“It’s just been an amazing season! After last season, it was one of the worst feelings I’ve ever had, honestly my wife, my family will tell you I didn’t come out of my house for two weeks I swear. So to have the season we’ve had - I knew we had bought some new players, I knew how good they would be, they’ve been all season but what a great bunch of players, what a great bunch of staff. We’ve done it the right way, we’ve played good football and it’s been just such a great year.”

With promotion secured, Cork and the Clarets have the Championship title in their sights, with the midfielder expressing how much it would mean to him.

“I mean it would just top everything off to win the title. I got promoted with Southampton about 10, 12 years ago and one of the worst things I had was we came second that year. We were promoted but it was still a little bit of a disappointment to us so it would be amazing to follow this up with winning the league.”

Speaking in front of the celebratory scenes in the away section at the Riverside Stadium, Cork thanked the Burnley fans for their incredible support throughout the campaign so far.

“I think any allocation we’ve had this season, they’ve filled it out, the local derbies have been brilliant this season. They just honestly, they’ve been brilliant all season, we can’t thank them enough. A massive thank you.”
