Following a record-breaking year which has seen the town become the centre of the UK for Esports education - Burnley College and Burnley Football Club have joined forces to launch their brand-new Esports shirt.
The exclusive design is being brought to life by the Club apparel partners Umbro and will be available instore and online on 14th January 2023.
Jac Cowie, Advanced Esports Student and Rocket League pro-player at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre, said: “Buy it! Wear it! Be proud!
“I’m so proud to be part of the Burnley FC Esports Academy team - The Bees - here at Burnley College. To have a shirt, that we can wear and show our colours to the rest of the world is amazing.”
The release of the Esports kit, marks the end of an unbelievable 12 months of collaboration between Burnley College and league-toppers Burnley FC, which has seen ambitious new projects launched in everything from Esports to women’s football.
Earlier this year the college and Burnley Football Club, who have their own successful Esports team, joined forces to create an unbeatable training facility for Esports stars of the future. The collaboration is the only one like it between a professional club and sixth form college in the UK.
Ed Foulds, Head of Creative Arts and Media at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre, added: “It feels like we’re on the verge of a revolution in Esports - and with our partners at Burnley FC we are perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the skills, the expertise and the experience both of our institutions have to offer.
“Esports was never the domain of the bedroom-nerd - it was always going to be at the forefront of invigorating a strong and passionate group of young people who see this as an expression of who they are and what they love.
“As the industry grows beyond recognition, I’m proud to be able to offer those young people with dreams of a career in the burgeoning business a true pathway to success.
“Ever since day one we have been keen on strengthening our ties with Burnley FC’s own Esports operation to create truly unique opportunities for everyone in Lancashire - and this shirt underlines it.
“We’re now in the process of writing our own degree-level course with the assistance of Burnley FC purely based around Esports - which we believe will be a UK first too.”

Esports is one of the fastest growing entertainment industries in the world, valued at more than £1 billion in 2022 and is forecast to continue growing for years to come.
Burnley College took the pioneering decision to embark on creating a world-leading educational pathway for students interested in Esports as a professional - either as a player or in one of the massive numbers of additional support roles a modern Esports team require, including everything from marketing, business, health and fitness, broadcast and more.
The college now have 12 teams created within the Burnley FC Esports Academy - known collectively as “The Bees” - playing the games FIFA, Overwatch, Valliant, Rocket League and League of Legends.
Over the last 12 months the college has seen the number of students on the courses rise from 20 to 110 - with even more planning to join Esports courses in 2023.
The provision of courses has also expanded massively to offer everything from Level 1 to Level 3 Esports vocational qualifications - and plans for a revolutionary Esports degree already underway.
The college has spent more than £100,000 on equipping two state-of-the-art Esports labs, which contain the latest processors, graphics cards, competitive mouse and keyboard set ups as well as the infrastructure to run “shoutcasts” - the Esports equivalent of live commentary.

The most recent edition includes two brand-new, expertly engineered F1 simulation rigs - built with the expert help of Burnley FC and backed up by MOZA simulation equipment and GT Omega gaming chairs.
The courses are aimed at creating true Esports experts who are equally as comfortable playing FIFA at an international level as launching, running, and promoting their own Esports teams.
Steve Hawthorn, Head of Esports at Burnley FC said: “Esports has been a passion of the club for several years now and this partnership solidifies the position we are in, as one of the top football clubs involved in Esports in the world.
“To have a local partner like Burnley College pushing the boundaries and changing perceptions around Esports we are proud to have them emblazoned on the front our new Esports shirt.”
The Esports shirt will also feature the branding of Burnley FC’s official tournament platform partner, Rival. Fans and Esports competitors can sign up to the platform to take part in tournaments on multiple different titles like FIFA, Rocket League, Overwatch, F1 and Valorant to win prizes.
