Wednesday 8th March marks International Women’s Day, celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
This year, the theme for the campaign is ‘#EmbraceEquity’, encouraging the important conversations surrounding how true inclusion and belonging requires equitable action.
In connection with the theme, we have a range of events planned to highlight the female role models associated to Burnley Football Club, Burnley FC Women and Burnley FC in the Community.

Last month, defenders Olivia Wilson and Lucy Walsh sat down with two girls from Burnley FC in the Community’s football programme, answering their questions in a Q&A. You’ll be able to view that across our social media channels later on today.
Later this week, you’ll also be able to view an in-depth interview with Courtney Willis, who holds a dual-role at the Club working in the Sports Science department alongside her playing career at Burnley FC Women.
Then, prior to Saturday’s first-team game against Wigan Athletic, Dom Cooper and Millie Ravening are taking part in a coaching session at Burnley College with 100 girls in the BFCitC programme ranging from ages 12-16.

And at Turf Moor, interim Burnley FC Women boss Jay Bradford will join Phil Bird on co-comms, chatting all things Claret Women.
Lastly, the Club are proud to announce that we are in the process of trialling an amalgamation of social media accounts.
While women’s & academy content on Twitter can still be found via @BurnleyFCWomen & @ClaretsAcademy respectively, Instagram and Facebook as well as TikTok will be combined for the next few months at the least.
Make sure you follow @BurnleyOfficial on all platforms to keep up to date with the key information!
