Sean Dyche has praised his side’s ‘bouncebackability’ as they go searching for more precious Premier League points.
The Clarets hadn’t won a top-flight game after conceding first under Dyche until they beat an Everton side managed by Sam Allardyce 2-1 at Turf Moor in March, 2018.
Allardyce is back at Burnley on Saturday afternoon and looking to master-mind an escape from the drop for his West Bromwich Albion side.
But the former England boss will face a Clarets’ side which has come from behind three times in their last four home league games to take some reward.
And Dyche has welcomed that addition to the Clarets’ game in tandem with a sharper cutting edge up front.
“I’m pleased with the mentality when we have conceded,” said the Burnley boss, who saw his side quickly cancel out Fulham’s opening goal in mid-week to secure a valuable 1-1 draw.
“There was a time in our Premier League lifespan when we couldn’t turn around games.
“We have done many times since, so I’m pleased with that side of things and the mentality to do that.
“We’re adapting to the challenge more so in an attacking format.
“We’ve got to keep doing that, but we are asking more and more questions of teams, so I’ve been pleased with that.
“That was particularly the case down at Palace but I thought there were good signs of that as well against Fulham.”
Wednesday night’s draw against Fulham followed a superb 3-0 win at Crystal Palace last Saturday and kept the Clarets eight points clear of the relegation zone in 15th place in the table.
And a fifth home win of the season against the second-from-bottom Baggies would cap an outstanding week’s work for Dyche’s injury-hit squad before they finally get a brief mid-week breather.
“Of course, that’s the thirst and the desire of the players,” Dyche added.
“I think they’ve made that clear. The energy levels are good and the commitment to the cause is good.
“They are very valid things throughout a season’s work and some of the quality is good.
“We are creating better quality of chances. We spoke about that early season and we needed to do that.
“We still have work to do with that but we are beginning to find that more.
“But no-one gives you anything in the Premier League. You have to earn everything and our mentality will be – whatever side we can get together – to give everything to the cause to earn the right and not to wait for it to happen, to make it happen.”
