01/01/2013 - Sheffield Wednesday 0 - 2 Burnley (Hillsborough)
Second-half goals from Keith Treacy and Ross Wallace saw the Clarets claim all three points against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough to kickstart 2013 with a win.
Following a goalless first-half, Treacy opened the scoring just after the hour with a sweet strike from distance, before Wallace added a second with 15 minutes left from the penalty spot.
Burnley started bright and had an early opportunity when Martin Paterson unleashed an effort towards goal, but keeper Chris Kirkland was equal to it.
Minutes later, Sean Dyche's side then rattled the crossbar, as Kieran Trippier's fierce strike from outside the area bounced off the woodwork.
With neither side breaking the deadlock and half-time approaching, the Clarets were then forced into an early change when Paterson had to make way with an injury and Treacy came on for the forward.
Wednesday came out on the front foot in the second-half and had a couple of efforts through Michail Antonio and Kieran Lee, before Sam Vokes glanced a header just wide of the target.
The Clarets made a second change on the hour mark, as Chris McCann made way for David Edgar and the visitors then had their breakthrough two minutes later.
Treacy broke down the left and cut inside, before rifling a strike towards the bottom corner, which Kirkland couldn't reach to give the visitors the advantage in Yorkshire.
The hosts looked to respond when substitute Jermaine Johnson tested Lee Grant, but it was the Clarets who struck again in the 76th minute, as Wallace slammed home from the penalty spot, after Lewis Buxton had handled inside the area.
