15/04/2000 - Oxford United 1 - 2 Burnley (Manor Ground)
Burnley came from behind in dramatic style at the Manor Ground to win 2-1 against Oxford, as a last minute goal from substitute Paul Weller saw the Clarets take all three points back to Lancashire.
United forward Matt Murphy gave the hosts the lead in the 13th minute, before the Clarets drew level through Steve Davis with five minutes left to set up a tense ending.
Just as it looked like the game was heading for a draw, Weller latched onto an Ian Wright cross and crashed home a header from inside the area to secure the victory for the visitors.
After a quiet start at the Manor Ground, the hosts took the lead with 13 minutes played when a long ball from defender Mark Watson found Steve Anthrobus on the edge of the area, with the striker flicking it on for the oncoming Murphy to fire home on the half-volley.
Despite efforts from the Clarets to draw level, the U's defence were standing strong to keep the away side out forcing Stan Ternent to turn to his bench for options and introduce the duo of Weller and Wright.
With the game at the 85th minute mark and Burnley knocking on the door, the equaliser was then secured as Davis rose highest inside the box to power home a header and pull the scores level with five minutes to go.
Then just as the game was drawing to a close, the Clarets had their winner in the last minute and it was the two substitutes of Weller and Wright that combined, as the latter raced onto a ball out wide and delivered a perfect cross onto the head of Weller to guide home into the bottom corner and ensure all three points for Burnley.
