30/09/2018 - Cardiff City 1 - 2 Burnley (Cardiff City Stadium)

Sam Vokes' second-half header saw the Clarets claim all three points in Wales, after Josh Murphy had cancelled out Johann Berg Gudmundsson's opener.

Following a goalless first-half, Burnley took the lead in the 50th minute through Gudmundsson's header, before Murphy pulled the scores level on the hour mark.

However, Sean Dyche's side were back infront 10 minutes late when Vokes guided home a header at the back-post to secure the win.

Cardiff started brightly and applied pressure on the Clarets, as Ben Mee was forced to block a Murphy cross into the area, before Callum Paterson's dangerous ball into the area fizzed narrowly wide.

Murphy was looking a threat from the off and came close to giving the hosts the lead midway through the first-half, but the winger's effort crashed off the outside of the post.

A dominant Cardiff first-half then saw Joe Hart forced into action before half-time, with the Burnley 'keeper having to push Kenneth Zohore's stinging strike wide of the target.

The final chance of the opening 45 minutes saw Matej Vydra use his defensive abilities and hook Paterson's looping header away on the goal line, as the Bluebirds finished the half on top.

Burnley came out lively in the second-half and after having an early penalty appeal turned down by Martin Atkinson, the visitors clinched the opener just five minutes into the second period.

A teasing cross from Ashley Westwood was met by the head of Gudmundsson, who beat City full-back Greg Cunningham to it and squeezed home the opening goal in Wales.

However, that lead only lasted less than 10 minutes, as Murphy pulled the scores level with a sweet strike from outside the area on the hour, before seeing another excellent effort tipped over the crossbar by Hart.

The away side were back ahead though shortly after, when Vokes met Gudmundsson's cross and guided home what turned out to be the winning goal with a well-placed header.
