Burnley FC Women are delighted to confirm the signing of Laura Elford from fellow FA Women’s National League North outfit Huddersfield Town.
The striker becomes Jonathan Morgan’s second signing of the week, and third since the turn of the year, as she makes the move across the Pennines.
Born in Barnsley, the 28-year-old began her career in the academy at Sheffield United before moving onto Leeds City Vixens during her time studying at a local university.
Starting her senior career off with a spell at Bradford City, Elford netted 42 goals in 44 appearances over two seasons. She then linked up with the Terriers ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
And over the course of the four and a half seasons she spent at Town, the forward was renowned for scoring goals with an impressive record of 71 goals in 87 competitive appearances.
With 14 in 14 already this season, Elford now links up with the Claret Women for the second half of the campaign.
The striker was delighted to have completed the move, saying: “It’s a new chapter for me and I’m really excited about the challenge that lies ahead.
“I’ve been in and around the squad for the last few weeks, and the staff & players here have been really welcoming. They’ve all helped me to settle into life at the Club.
“I’m looking forward to kicking on for the rest of the season now, and hopefully contributing towards achieving the goals and aspirations of the Club and team.”
Meanwhile, boss Morgan added, “We’re delighted to get Laura over the line, and feel that she will be a strong addition for us.
“She brings with her not only a clear eye for goal, but a significant amount of experience.
“We’re all excited to work with her, and we can’t wait to see what she is going to do in Claret & Blue!”
Elford, along with fellow new signing Lara Miller, could make her debut this Sunday away against Loughborough Lightning (2pm KO).
