Chelsea beat Genk 3-1 to win the fifth instalment of the Dude Perfect International Youth Cup on Sunday afternoon.

There were also celebrations for AC Milan, who got the better of Brentford to win the Plate bracket at Burnley Training Centre.

It was wet and windy at times but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the players or supporters, with the action getting underway at 10am.

The day started with matches between the beaten Cup and Plate quarter finalists, and Burnley produced an emphatic 6-0 victory over Sevilla thanks largely to four goals from Sonny Loughlin.

Then came the Plate semi-finals, in which AC Milan produced a resilient display to beat SC Braga and Brentford scored a decisive goal three minutes from time to beat FZ Zurich 5-4.

After that there was a round of play-offs to determine finishing positions lower down the rankings, and our young Clarets produced put five past Werder Bremen alongside a 6-0 victory for Lech Poznan over Borussia Dortmund as the pick of the results.

At 2pm attention turned to the Plate final between AC Milan and Brentford.

The Italians got off to a flying start, scoring twice in two minutes, and the Bees were unable to recover as the tie finished 5-2.

Valencia and Celtic contested the third and fourth place play-off at the same time, and Celtic bounced back from the disappointment of losing their semi-final to win a pulsating match on penalties.

The 48th and final match of an exhilarating three days saw Chelsea and Belgian outfit Genk, who were both unbeaten throughout, go head-to-head for the Cup title.

The Londoners couldn’t have wished for a better start, going 3-0 up within 17 minutes before Genk gained a foothold.

A late penalty reduced their arrears but it finished 3-1, sparking celebrations at the final whistle.

An awards ceremony followed, giving Chelsea and AC Milan the opportunity to lift their respective trophies.

Individual prizes were given out too, with Borussia Dortmund’s Ruben Trojca being named Player of the Tournament, Chelsea’s Abdou Balde and Brentford’s Max Hunter sharing the Golden Boot for scoring eight goals apiece, and Lech Poznan’s Maciej Roszyk winning the Golden Glove Award.
