Welcome to Turf Moor for this afternoon’s game against Wolves. It’s my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to Bruno Lage, the players, staff, directors, and supporters joining us.
Today is our College Clarets takeover day and we have an exciting programme of activities planned, staged by students and staff from Burnley College, in celebration of our ongoing partnership.
There’s lots for supporters to get involved in, fans can pitch their gaming skills against the college's highly skilled Esports Academy team in the Papa John’s FanZone, free health checks will be on offer from students on health and science-related courses, there will be sports challenges from students on sport and fitness courses, plus contemporary dance, and live music performances.
It's set to be a great occasion and we’re pleased to team up with the college to offer students the opportunity to showcase their talents here at Turf Moor.
Next, we are always keen to involve fans in making positive change and our recent Clarets View survey covered sustainability, a key area for football club’s up and down the country as we are all encouraged to be more considerate of our carbon footprint. The insight gained from the survey was fascinating and we’re grateful for the feedback and suggestions that we received.
As a Club we have been making important progress in this area, implementing several initiatives over the course of the last year and we are pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Event Cup Solutions to reduce the amount of single use plastics that we use here at Turf Moor.
New collection bins are in place around the stadium, for used cups to be placed into, as we aim to remove around 150,000 single use plastic cups from our waste every season. We thank you all for your support with the initiative as we work together to ensure Burnley FC operates in a more sustainable manner.
Staying with Clarets View, last month we sent out a survey on ticketing and following on from this, we were pleased to invite a selection of fans who responded to the survey, to a focus group at Turf Moor.
The fans met staff representatives to discuss various topics including purchasing tickets, fan experience and rewarding loyalty.
I want to express my thanks to the group that attended. I’ve been forthcoming in my desire for there to be an open dialogue between fans and the Club and focus groups such as this are a prime example of us working together to make positive change.
Back to this afternoon’s game, I want to thank you the fans, for your continued support. Let’s get behind the team for our second home game in four days.
Up the Clarets!
Alan
