Burnley continue their Carabao Cup campaign with a trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday night – 21st December -, taking on Manchester United in the Fourth Round of the competition (8pm KO).
Vincent Kompany’s side first beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in Shropshire back in August before seeing off Crawley Town with a 3-1 success at Turf Moor last month to set up this meeting with United.
Last weekend saw the Clarets victorious on home turf in Sky Bet Championship action, coming from behind to beat Middlesbrough 3-1 as Manuel Benson bagged a brace.
That win extended Burnley’s run to just one defeat in 20 outings (all competitions), and saw us maintain our spot at the top of the table.
Early team news for tonight's game can be found here.
Where to watch
We will be backed by over 7,000 Clarets fans in a sold-out away end at Old Trafford, and thank you for your continued tremendous support.

Manchester United
Five-time winners of the competition, the Red Devils entered in Round Three this term, beating Aston Villa 4-2 at Old Trafford.
United’s goals came from Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes & Scott McTominay on a night which saw them twice have to come from behind.
With the Premier League not returning until Boxing Day having paused for the duration of the World Cup, Wednesday will be a first competitive game since mid-November for Erik ten Hag’s side.
United headed to Spain during the break and played two friendly fixtures, beaten by both Cadiz (4-2) & Real Betis (1-0), albeit with youthful sides on show.
The last time we met
Wednesday night will be the 9th time that the two sides have faced off in the League Cup, with the most recent just over 20 years ago at Turf Moor in December 2002, also in the Fourth Round.

United progressed that night but more recently, in the Premier League, the Clarets have enjoyed some success against the Red Devils.
Picking up draws at Old Trafford in 2016, 2017 & 2019, Jay Rodriguez was then on target with a stunner in a 2-0 win in Manchester back in January 2020.
And last season, at Turf Moor, Rodriguez scored as Burnley fought from behind to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw.
