Burnley continue their Carabao Cup campaign with the visit of Crawley Town to Turf Moor on Tuesday night – 8th November -  in Round Three of the competition (7.45pm KO).
Last time out, Vincent Kompany’s side suffered a first defeat in 18 games, losing out 5-2 away against Sheffield United.
Manuel Benson continued his goalscoring form and struck twice in the first half to hand the Clarets a 2-1 lead come the break, but three unanswered Blades goals at Bramall Lane saw the hosts take all three points.
Despite the defeat, Burnley remain top of the Sky Bet Championship table ahead of the Carabao Cup’s return. Kompany’s men beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 away from home back in August to set up the tie with Crawley.

Crawley Town
Established in 1896, Red Devils Crawley first made it into the EFL at the end of the 2010/11 campaign when they lifted the Conference – now recognised as the National League – title.
Success again followed the following season, winning promotion from Sky Bet League Two at the first time of asking. But after three years in the third tier, Town were relegated at the end of the 2014/15 campaign and have been in League Two since.

Currently in their eighth consecutive season as a fourth-tier outfit, the Sussex-based Club began the campaign with a new man at the helm in Kevin Betsy, though he only lasted until early October and since then, Lewis Young has been in interim charge.
Until last weekend, when the Red Devils exited the Emirates FA Cup with a 4-1 home defeat by Accrington Stanley, Town had been unbeaten under the tenure of Young.
Sat 19th in the League two table at the time of writing, Jake Hessenthaler was the scorer for Crawley in that loss to Stanley.
To reach this stage of the Carabao Cup, Crawley beat Bristol Rovers 1-0, and Premier League opposition in Fulham 2-0.
The last time we met
Crawley are one of only nine teams in the Football League this season who the Clarets have never faced off against in a competitive game.
All of the nine are either in Sky Bet League One or Sky Bet League Two this term. The others on the list are AFC Wimbledon, Barrow AFC, Crawley Town, Fleetwood Town, Forest Green Rovers, Harrogate Town, Salford City, Stevenage & Sutton United.

In terms of a connection between Burnley and the Red Devils, Brian ‘the Beast’ Jensen played for both clubs during his career.
Making 310 appearances for the Clarets – and winning the Play-Off final in 2009 – the Danish goalkeeper would move on to Bury and eventually Crawley, where he played 23 times between 2014 and 2015.
England youth international Mark Randall also appeared for both, spending the second half of the 2007/08 campaign on loan at Turf Moor from Arsenal. 11 years later, he signed for Town and played 43 times across a two-season spell.
