A proud Ben Mee hailed the Clarets’ ‘fantastic feat’ of securing another season of top-flight football as they completed an outstanding recovery mission.
With no wins in their first seven games, Burnley hauled themselves away from the bottom of the table to guarantee safety with a superb 2-0 win at Fulham.
Sean Dyche’s men achieved their target with three games to spare thanks to goals from Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood which confirmed the Cottagers’ relegation.
And after overcoming a host of obstacles, the Clarets can now look forward to a sixth successive season in the Premier League.

“It’s a fantastic feat and we shouldn’t shy away from it,” said delighted skipper Mee.
“It’s a really good achievement and we need to build on it and keep this going and moving forward to stay in the Premier League.
“It’s been a tough season. The squad has been stretched at times but lads have come in and done really well.
“I’m really happy and very proud to help guide us to another Premier League season.
“It’s the character of the squad. There have been a lot of injuries and the squad has been stretched.
“We had to dig in and everybody played a part. We’ll go and enjoy the last three games.
“It’s been a good season and I’m sure we’ll get more points and finish reasonably high in the table.
“The way we are playing we can go anywhere and get points and get wins. It was good to get over the line today but I think there’s more to come from us and we can move higher.”

The Clarets climbed to 14th place in the table thanks to a sixth away win of the season.
One more away victory at bottom club Sheffield United on the final day of the campaign would equal the Clarets’ Premier League record of seven away wins in a Premier League season.
And the landmarks keeping coming as Wood notched his 50th goal for the club with his 12th goal of the season and Mee and manager Sean Dyche both hit the 350-mark.
Dyche took charge of his 350th league game as Burnley boss, while Mee made his 350th appearance for the club with a typically commanding performance alongside James Tarkowski as the pair helped chalk up an 11th clean sheet of the campaign.
The club captain is up to 22nd in the all-time list of Burnley appearance-makers and will move into the top 20 if he plays the final three games of the season.
“It’s nice to get to that mark,” the 31-year-old told Clarets+. “The next aim is 400, I guess, and that’s what I’d like to achieve.
“To move up that table of appearances would be nice and keep playing well and keep moving the squad forward.
“Playing with the lads is fantastic and I’ve enjoyed every minute.”
