February half term provided an exciting opportunity for Burnley’s Academy players to experience a week of activities on and off the pitch.
All age groups were able to visit the Club’s state-of the art facilities in Padiham during the daytime to train and complete strength and conditioning programmes in the gym.
In addition, the players took part in educational workshops covering a variety of topics.
They learnt about the importance of nutrition in relation to performance, as well as getting an introduction to emotions with Academy psychologist James Cope following Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

Moreover, a representative from LGBTQ+ campaigning organisation Stonewall gave a presentation to all age groups up to the U21s.
Furthermore, on Monday the U13s, U14s and U15s heard from first-team players Han-Noah Massengo, Jay Rodriguez and Josh Brownhill about their careers to date and their experiences of Academy football.
The youngsters then gained valuable advice in a Q+A session. For more details on the afternoon, please click HERE.
As an extra experience, a selection of the U15s and U16s visited St George’s Park, the home of English football, on Wednesday.

Professional Development Phase Coach Matt Walsh was asked by the FA to present around midfielder player receiving skills to candidates and staff on the Advanced Youth Award course.
As such, the youngsters were able to take part in coaching sessions and experience the facilities in Staffordshire.
On the benefits of the week Chris Heap, Burnley’s Academy Player Care Lead, said: “Ensuring that our Academy players receive a holistic experience is very important to us at Burnley.
“Spending more time together means the players and coaches can build stronger bonds, which in turn should improve on-field performance.
“It was great to see so many smiley young faces around the BTC and I know that our young players will have learned a lot to take with them going forwards, too.”
