Claret women’s last game of the season rearranged for this Sunday

Burnley FC Women’s final game of the season will take place on Sunday 8th May at Burnley FC’s training ground, KO 3pm.

The fixture was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday 1st May however last weekend, the Clarets received news from Middlesbrough that Neil Campbell, brother to Manager Andy Campbell and lifelong friend to all at Middlesbrough, had sadly passed away. The thoughts of everybody at Burnley FC Women are with Andy, the players, and staff at Middlesbrough Women during this difficult time.

Following consultation with the league and both Clubs, the fixture has been rescheduled for this weekend, so both sides can complete their league campaigns.

A win for Burnley will see them finish 4th in the table of the Northern Premier Division of FA Women’s National League, with the Clarets unable to climb higher with AFC Fylde Women - who have already completed all of their fixtures - in 3rd, four points above.

Middlesbrough, meanwhile, have endured a challenging 2021/22 season, and relegation was confirmed for the side ahead of Sunday’s fixture.

Last weekend saw the majority of the league complete their campaigns. Due to cup competition commitments, the only other game in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League that is due to take place on Sunday is Huddersfield Town Women against Hull City Ladies.

Like the Clarets opposition, Hull City’s relegation was confirmed recently, as they finished bottom of the league on six points.

Burnley FC Women and Huddersfield are currently both on 43 points so will be chasing three points on Sunday, the Clarets however have a higher goal difference heading into the fixture.

Please note: due to the venue change, there will be no live stream of the fixture and the game will be played behind closed doors. However, supporters can keep up to date with the action via Twitter @burnleyfcwomen.
