BURNLEY FOOTBALL CLUB SIGNS RACE AT WORK CHARTER

Burnley Football Club are pleased to announce that we have signed the Race at Work Charter, an initiative that brings businesses together to improve equal opportunities for Black, Asian, Mixed Race and ethnically diverse employees across the UK.

This commitment follows Burnley Football Club and Burnley FC in the Community hosting a Seeing is Believing event at Turf Moor, where three local people, Aabid, Nazia and Faith, shared their personal journeys and career experiences in the town.

Each speaker, from a minority ethnic background, offered powerful insights that inspired the senior business leaders in attendance and underscored the importance of representation and inclusion.

The Race at Work Charter asks businesses to commit to the following actions:

Appoint an Executive Sponsor for race
Capture data and publicising progress
Ensure zero tolerance of harassment and bullying
Make equality in the workplace the responsibility of all leaders and managers
Take action that supports ethnic minority career progression
Support race inclusion allies in the workplace
Include Black, Asian, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains

Amy Wells, Chief Operations Officer at Burnley Football Club, said: “We’re really proud to be signing the Race at Work Charter and making a public commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace. Working with Business in the Community over the past year has highlighted to the Club just how much under‑representation and how many barriers still exist, and how much power we have to help change that. We’re determined to play our part, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”
