The Soccer Tournament (TST), the $1 million, winner-take-all, 7v7 world championship, today announced the group pairings and match schedules for Burnley FC’s men’s and women’s squads competing at TST. The Tournament will take place at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C from June 5-10.
The Men’s Bracket
The TST’s 48-team men’s field is split into 12 groups of four teams. Burnley FC will headline Group B in the men’s bracket, where they will compete against Pat McAfee’s The Concafa SC, Chad OchoCinco’s Nati SC, and Reggae Rovers.
The Concafa SC will be led by two-time NFL Pro Bowler and popular TV show host Pat McAfee. Nati SC will return to TST this year with players from the original FC Cincinnati squad who guided the Club from the USL – America’s second tier of soccer – to the MLS in 2018. Cincinnati Bengals (NFL) legend and six-time Pro Bowler Chad OchoCinco will also be returning for the team. Reggae Rovers brings together Caribbean internationals with experience playing professionally in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
The Clarets will play the following matches throughout the group stage as they look to secure one of thirty-two places in the knockout stage of the Tournament (all times listed are Eastern Standard Time):
Wednesday, June 5th
· Burnley FC v Nati SC – 8:30 a.m.
· Burnley FC v Reggae Rovers – 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 6th
· Burnley FC v The Concafa SC – 7:00 p.m.
All Burnley FC games at The Tournament will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC. Both matches on Wednesday, June 5th will also be available to stream on www.thetournament.com while the match against The Concafa SC will be broadcast exclusively on ESPNU. The top two teams from each group and the eight third-place teams with the highest point totals (32 total teams) will advance to the knockout stage, which will commence on June 7. Round of 16 and quarterfinal games will both be played on Saturday, June 8. Semifinals will take place on the evening of Sunday, June 9th, and the $1 million championship game at 8:30 p.m. EST on Monday, June 10th.
The Tournament’s 48-team men’s field also includes clubs like Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal CF, Wrexham, and Como 1907.
Participants in this year’s Tournament include soccer stars Sergio Aguero (Agüero Team), Marco Materazzi (Inter Milan), Nani (Nani FC), Mario Balotelli (Nani FC), Marcos Senna (Villarreal), and Troy Deeney (Sirie 7).
The Women’s Bracket
The Soccer Tournament’s 8-team women’s field is comprised of two groups with four teams in each group. Kealia Watt-led Burnley FC will headline Group B, which also includes NC Courage, SoccerHead FC, and Tampa Bay Sun FC.
NC Courage compete in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) – America’s first tier of women’s soccer – and play their home matches at WakeMed Soccer Park. The two-time NWSL Champions will bring a roster of former college and professional stars to defend their home turf. SoccerHead FC will reunite former collegiate soccer players from Duke University in North Carolina. Tampa Bay Sun FC is a newly formed club, set to bring professional women’s soccer to Tampa, Florida.

All Burnley FC games at The Tournament will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC and will be available to stream on www.thetournament.com. The top two teams from each women’s group will advance to Sunday afternoon’s semifinals, with the winners advancing to the inaugural $1 million women’s championship game on Monday, June 10, at 7:00 p.m. EST – broadcast live on ESPNU.
