The opening day of the Burnley FC X Dude Perfect International Youth Cup saw 224 players from around the world converge on a sun-soaked Burnley Training Centre!
16 high-octane games produced 83 goals as all teams played an exciting brand of attacking football, with the world watching on YouTube.
There was equally as much entertainment off the pitch, with the Dude Perfect challenge zone providing the perfect setting to unwind after games.
Burnley sit 2nd in Group D at close of play, with the Clarets recording a dominant 6-1 victory over Chicago Fire A in their opening fixture.
A 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United followed, with the Magpies looking like one of the tournament’s early favourites having also put eight past AC Milan.
There were plenty of other big scores too, with Chelsea beating FC Midtjylland 8-2 and Rangers beating Benfica 6-0.
Reflecting on day one Richard Geoghan, Burnley Academy’s Assistant Head of Coaching, said: “It’s a great set up here and we’ve been able to take the tournament to another level this year.
“The standard of football is really good and it really helps us put the club on the map, shown by the teams we’ve been able to attract from around the world.
“Our players will look back on this in a few years and think ‘wow – that was something really great to be a part of.”
Tickets for this weekend’s action in Padiham are still available to purchase online, with a ticket for both days costing £20.
Daily passes are also available at £12 for adults and £6 for under 18s. Supporters can buy tickets on the gate too.
