Clarets midfielder Josh Brownhill expressed his frustration at not being able to convert a lead into maximum points following the 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
A Jamie Vardy own goal and a fine maiden Premier League strike from Maxwel Cornet saw Sean Dyche’s side score twice in the league for the first time this season.
It looked to be enough to take home all three points, with Cornet's effort seeing Burnley lead 2-1 for much for the second half, but a late Vardy goal ensured the game ended level, but not before Chris Wood had a late effort ruled out for offside by VAR.
And midfielder Brownhill, who produced a typically all-action display at the King Power Stadium, was pleased with the performance but left gutted by the late twist.
“It was really enjoyable, until they scored the second goal. We had done so well for the majority of the game, as we have done all season really,” he said.
“They have scored, a good goal in their eyes, but for us it is very disappointing. So it was gutting we didn’t quite snatch it at the end.
“The offside seemed tight, but offside is offside.
“It is very frustrating for us. We have put in some really good performances. Especially today though we had so many chances and caused them all sorts of trouble.
“It is one of them, you go 2-1 up and you have to see games out. They have some very good players and brought some off the bench, so they are always going to be a threat.
“So yeah it is just very frustrating for us.”
The draw leaves the Clarets on two points after the opening six games of the season.
One major plus point was an excellent first league goal from Cornet since his summer arrival from Lyon, as he expertly volleyed home, although he was withdrawn shortly after with a hamstring issue.
And Brownhill was full of praise for his teammate, following another performance that caught the eye.
“He has done very well since coming in," added the midfielder. "In training he has hit the ground running, and in games against Arsenal and Rochdale midweek as well. He definitely deserved that goal.
“Hopefully his injury is not too bad when he gets that checked. He will be a big part of our season this year because he is a very good player.”
