Jordan Beyer admits he has ‘always dreamed’ of playing in the Premier League as the Clarets prepare for the 2023/24 campaign in the top-flight following promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.
The German centre-back joined Burnley on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach on the summer transfer window deadline day and went on to feature 35 times helping the side secure 18 clean sheets and the league title.
Following a successful first season at Turf Moor, the 23-year-old then committed his future to the Club and signed a permanent four-year contract in May.
After returning to pre-season training on Monday, Beyer says he now ‘can’t wait’ for the Premier League season to begin in August and hopes that Turf Moor can be a ‘fortress’ once again.
Beyer smiled: “It's really what you dream of. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and now hopefully the dream is coming true and I can't wait to get started.
“Like, I really can't wait. The Premier League it's different, it’s got this special feeling about it. It's just incredible and I can't wait to see the fans again at Turf Moor, now playing Premier League football.
“Hopefully we'll make bit of Fortress like last season again and win the game's there like last season. I know it will be tough and it’s another level to the Championship, but we need to make it a difficult place to come.
“But I’m just looking forward to playing with Burnley at Turf Moor and being with the fans again and hopefully we can have a good time and enjoy the season.”
Beyer and his teammates got a taste of some Premier League opposition last season after coming up against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Manchester City at the Etihad and AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
The Kempen-born defender enjoyed last season’s experiences and has his eyes set on some of historic English stadiums.
“We actually played at a few good ones last season already in the cup. We were playing away against United and City at huge stadiums in front of lots of fans. Also, at Bournemouth too, that was my first time and was a good match.
“Of course, I would like to play at Anfield. Anfield, The Emirates, Stamford Bridge. These are huge stadiums which I've only seen on TV and that would be great to play there. It would be a dream.” Said the German.
Beyer says he enjoyed his time off following the end of a memorable season but the Germany U21 international insists he is ready to now get down to working, training and preparing for the upcoming season.
"It was a nice break sometime off from football. It was nice after this tough long season, but yeah, it feels like almost yesterday that we lifted the trophy and I'm stills overly excited about.
"It was such was one of the most memorable moments. I'll never forget quite some time and enjoyed some time off with my family, with friends. Now we're back to work, preparing and training hard for the new season.
"I enjoy the first day of pre-season. I think everybody's happy to see each other again, because of course you need time off of each other when you see each other every day.
"But I think everybody's happy to be back and to start working again for our new season in the Premier League, which is just like a huge, huge task for us and we're just all looking forward to it."
