Following the international break Sander Berge and Jacob Bruun Larsen were reunited at the training ground this week as the Clarets prepare for this weekend visit to Chelsea.
Midfielder Berge, who played 90 minutes in Norway's two friendly fixtures in Oslo, was pleased that Burnley's 2-1 win against Brentford earlier this month could give the players positive momentum heading into their national team duties and is aiming for the momentum to be carried into Saturday's game against Mauricio Pochettino's side.
“It was a massive win. We’ve been on a tough journey but an exciting journey. I think we’ve grown as a team a lot during the season and developed, even though each game in the Premier League shows how difficult it is, everyone can punish you. We’ve suffered a lot in the fine margins there and come out on the bad end of many games. But I think we’ve just stuck to the plan, been positive, excited, kept the enthusiasm around the club here and always been looking for the next task and challenge.
“To finally get a win against Brentford and build momentum into the national team break has been great. We just look forward to going again.”

It was teammate Bruun Larsen's penalty in the 10th minute that put the home side ahead against the Bees and the Dane was happy to see his first professional penalty hit the back of the net.
“It was one of those where you wait all the time, I think it was eight minutes where you just - you kind of have to expect that it’s going to be a penalty. So, I just try and focus on where I wanted to try and shoot the ball and I was making sure that no one was stepping on the penalty spot, or no one was doing anything. Gave Josh Cullen the ball and was just making sure that I was focussed on where I wanted to hit the ball.
“It was my first professional penalty [at senior level] I think, so it was important, a good start for the game. I just went with my first thought, and it went in.”
And was it difficult to keep his composure during the eight minute wait?
“It is but you have to expect it. I knew I was going to take the penalties; I knew a couple of days before that it could be me. I guess everyone that takes penalties has this experience, they do their way, and my way was I choose one side or where I want to shoot and then I just go for it and make sure that it goes in.”

Having secured the three points, has the national team break had an affect on Berge and the squad's momentum heading into Saturday's game against Chelsea?
“I think we just go again, positive, nice to come back, nice to leave on a high. But then obviously reset, half the group had to get some rest and half the group went into different circumstances with a different team and got some other vibes there. I think we’ve gathered well and are looking forward to what’s to come.
“There were positive games before the break, which we could have got even more, against West Ham and the way we played against Bournemouth - on another day you get a result. So, keep that momentum, try to improve certain bits and they’ll certainly be exciting games to come.”
With Chelsea currently sitting 11th in the table, what is Bruun Larsen expecting from the game at Stamford Bridge?
“It’s probably not going to be the same game against Brentford with all respect. They obviously have a quality team in terms of individual players and what they can do on the ball. But it’s going to be about ourselves, how we’re going to treat the game and what mindset we have going into it. I think if we have everything prepared - which we will - then we have every chance to get a good result.”
