Barnes will be going into his 10th season as a Claret and discussed the topics of building together as a team, the challenges of pre-season and on teammate Jack Cork penning a new deal.
Barnes on extending his stay at the club:
“Once the Club took up the option, I was delighted to get back here and get this new adventure underway.
“Heading into my 10th season here now, I know the Club, the fans, the staff, and the area, so it’s great for me and my family.”
Barnes on the challenge of pre-season:
“It’s going to be a tough pre-season, but that’s something that you always know coming back in.
“You just have to grind through it together as a team and be ready for the start of the season, which will come around quickly.
"But it's good to be back around the lads and the staff and to meet the new manager, it's exciting for us all.
Barnes on building together as a squad ahead of the new season:
“It’s a fresh start for everyone here, new ideas, new players and it will be interesting to see what the new season brings.
“There’s still a few of us that have been here a while and get the Club and we have look after the young ones and new ones that come in.
“But that’s something that we’re looking forward to, building together and get the team bond going again with any new faces that join us.
“Then together as one, we can fight as a team for promotion and get back to the Premier League.”
Barnes on Jack Cork signing a new deal to stay with the Clarets:
“Corky is an exceptional player, what he’s achieved throughout his career and what a man he is.
“He’s a big part of the changing room and a massive player for us and it’s great that he’s staying too.”
