Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of England U21 international Max Alleyne, who joins on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The 21-year-old centre-back, who spent the first half of last season on loan with Watford, will now spend the upcoming Sky Bet Championship campaign at Turf Moor.

After joining the Clarets, Alleyne said: "I'm super excited, I can't wait to get going. I had my first training session today and I've really enjoyed it so far, meeting the manager and my teammates.

"I first heard of the interest a couple of months ago now and I'm so glad it got done. It's a huge team, a Premier League team to be honest and I'm so buzzing to be here."

The exciting defender, born in Bristol, began his early football career in Southampton's academy, before making the move to the Etihad in the summer of 2021.

Alleyne quickly progressed within the ranks of City's youth set-up and was rewarded with his first professional deal at the club just a year after arriving in Manchester.

The youngster was a regular in the U21s side and was getting a taste of first team experience at the same time, after being named in City's UEFA Champions League squad against Red Star Belgrade in December 2023. He was then included in a Premier League squad for the first time 12 months later against Everton.

Last summer the defender joined Championship side Watford on loan. He featured 17 times before being recalled back to the Etihad in January of this year.

Alleyne was thrown straight into the action, with the defender making his City debut against Brighton two days after returning from Vicarage Road, before scoring his first professional goal three days later against Exeter City in the Emirates FA Cup.

He also played in both Carabao Cup semi-final legs against Newcastle United, with City going on to lift the trophy at Wembley. He tallied up seven appearances for Pep Guardiola's men in the second half of the campaign.

Alleyne, who has also represented England from U17-U21 level over the past four years, arrives at Turf Moor for the next step in his career and becomes Nicky Hayen's fourth summer signing.
