12 players sign on ahead of 2025/26 season

Burnley Football Club are delighted to confirm that 12 young players have signed scholarship terms ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The players were joined by their families and new host families for a night of celebration at Turf Moor, where they heard from current and former scholars about life as a full-time footballer.

Additionally, the Academy launched its new cap scheme. Taking inspiration from the national team cap tradition, all new scholars will be given a commemorative cap to mark their achievement going forwards.

Players will receive further caps when they make their U21s and first team debuts.

Two of the new group of scholars are goalkeepers. One of them, Callum Feeney, has progressed through the ranks from U11s level and made a handful of appearances for the U18s last season.

After spending time on trial towards the end of last season, fellow shot stopper Harry Grimshaw has penned terms after leaving Reading.

There are two centre-backs in Freddie Best, who was born in Skipton and joined the Club as a U9, and Luca Fong, who joined as a U14 from grassroots football.

Diandro Fletchman is a left-back who came through the same pathway as Fong, while right-back Croyde Da Costa is now entering his sixth year as a Claret.

Central midfielder Dylan Morison has progressed right the way through the system from pre Academy level and featured for the U17s several times last season, in addition to playing for the U21s in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup final against Bolton Wanderers.

Another player involved in that matchday squad was Destiny Okonkwo, a striker who joined from Stoke City as a U16.

Gibraltar youth international Luca Scanlon joined the Clarets from Manchester United last season and can play as an attacking midfielder or inverted winger.

Fellow midfielder James Lewis also has a Manchester United background, leaving the Red Devils to join Burnley at U12s level.

Vishon Masara is a left winger and the younger brother of first year professional Vernon, while Warren Taylor is a striker who joined from Sheffield United as a U14.
