Nine players from the Clarets academy are currently out on loan across the Football League & non-league pyramid.
With striker Michael Mellon moving to Morecambe for the remainder of the season, and Bobby Thomas making his Barnsley debut, here’s a round-up of how all nine have fared over the last week.
Bobby Thomas (Barnsley)
Defender Thomas took his Tykes bow on Saturday at Oakwell against Lukas Jensen’s Accrington Stanley, named in the starting 11.
The Tykes were 3-0 up by half-time and ran out 3-1 winners in the end with Thomas – who has been a Claret since 2017 – only denied a debut clean sheet by a late penalty.

Thomas is set to remain with Michael Duff’s side until the end of the season.

Dara Costelloe (Bradford City)
Costelloe is also on loan until the end of the season a tier below with Bradford.
The Irish attacker has been with Burnley since February 2021, and he was one of a number of loanees to see a game postponed on Saturday due to a frozen pitch. 
Mark Hughes’ Bantams were set to host Carlisle United, but that Sky Bet League Two fixture will now be re-arranged.

Finn Armstrong (FC United of Manchester) 
Full back Armstrong’s loan with FC in the Northern Premier League’s Premier Division runs until 31st January.

He also saw his game away at South Shields called off on Saturday due to a frozen pitch.
The defender has been at Burnley since he was 12.

Harry Moss (Barnoldswick Town)
Goalkeeper Moss, who has been at Burnley since the summer of 2021, is another on the list of frozen pitch-related postponements.
The second-year scholar is on loan with Barnoldswick until 31st January, and is awaiting his debut having seen two games called off in the last week. 
A league game at home against Congleton Town was the first to be cancelled, with a Macron Cup tie away against Northwich Victoria also postponed on Sunday.

Joe McGlynn (Kidderminster Harriers)
Striker McGlynn was one of the few to play a game, coming on 61 minutes in for Kidderminster as they drew 1-1 at home against Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday afternoon

The Scottish youth international’s loan deal runs until the end of the season with the Vanarama National League North outfit. 
He has been a Claret since the age of 12.

Lewis Richardson (Grimsby Town)
Striker Richardson is on a season-long loan at Grimsby in Sky Bet League Two.
He has been with Burnley since he was nine, and saw the Mariners’ scheduled home game against Harrogate Town postponed on Saturday with the playing surface at Blundell Park frozen.

Lukas Jensen (Accrington Stanley)
‘Keeper Jensen’s loan at Accrington, a division higher, is also until the end of the season.

Tuesday saw Stanley’s scheduled Emirates FA Cup replay at home against Boreham Wood postponed due to a frozen pitch at the Wham Stadium.
But on Saturday, the Danishman – who has been with Burnley since 2019 – was involved on gameday as an unused substitute when the Reds lost 3-1 away at Bobby Thomas’ Barnsley.
The Third Round replay against Boreham Wood has been re-arranged for this Tuesday evening. A win would set up a Fourth Round tie at home against Premier League outfit Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

Michael Mellon (Morecambe)
Forward Mellon made the move to Morecambe until the end of the season last Thursday.

He was set to make a Shrimps debut on Saturday, but their Sky Bet League One clash with Port Vale at the Mazuma Stadium fell foul to a frozen pitch.
The striker has been at Burnley from the age of 15.

Sam Waller (Lancaster City)
‘Keeper Waller has been at Claret since he was 12, and is on a youth loan at Lancaster which runs until 31st January.
Like fellow shot stopper Moss, he had two games postponed in the week just gone due to the inclement weather sweeping the nation.

Last Tuesday saw a trip to Guiseley postponed while on Saturday, the Dolly Blues were due to visit Liversedge. Both of those venues had frozen pitches.
