Ahead of the Club’s recent Sky Bet Championship fixture against Middlesbrough at Turf Moor, the award-winning Academy in the Community programme was celebrated pitch side!
The project is a joint initiative between the Academy and charitable arm, Burnley FC in the Community, and aims to provide first and second year scholars with a deeper connection to the town through regular appearances within the local community.
As it continues to go from strength to strength, the programme picked up Community Initiative of the Season - Premier League (in association with the PFA) at the recent Northwest Football Awards.
It beat off competition from the official charities of Manchester City, Manchester United and Everton on a star-studded night at Emirates Old Trafford.
As well as celebrating the success at Turf Moor, the U18 players who have played a key role in the programme to date celebrated the win at the training ground.
Defender Logan Carlin said: “I’m really pleased with the win.
“A lot of hard work goes into this, so I think it’s really well deserved, and it feels extra special because Frankie (McMahon-Brown) and I helped with the application and have been a big part of the programme.
“As a local lad from Burnley we're a small community, and awards like this mean a lot to us.”
Frankie added: “I am really happy to have won.
“It's great that through this we can really make a difference to how people feel. I think it's just getting better and better every time we go out and about.”
