Good afternoon, welcome everybody to today’s game against Sheffield United.
Last Saturday’s result was a tough one to take and I like many of you was disappointed not to come away with the three points, especially after such a positive performance.
We played incredibly well and it’s vital that we take those positives from the display into this afternoon’s game.
I was pleased to have JJ with us, who flew over for the occasion. He was here for less than 24 hours just to show his support for the team and joined fans in the Barnfield Stand for the second half. It’s fantastic to see JJ and all those invested in our football club’s passion and unwavering support.
Today is our Rainbow Laces themed matchday and we’ll be joining Premier League clubs in showing our support.
This year, Stonewall is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Rainbow Laces campaign, with the message ‘Let’s Lace Up to Keep It Up.’ The campaign offers us the opportunity to look at the progress that’s been made in LGBTQ+ inclusion over the last decade and highlight the ongoing work to promote inclusion, showing that football is welcoming to all.
At Burnley Football Club we’re proud of our One Club for All ethos and want to ensure that Turf Moor is an inclusive environment and that everybody feels welcome here.
I want to say a big thank you to all those who donated to our Food Drive last weekend. Eleven pallets of food were donated at the West Ham game and Burnley FC in the Community’s Unite for Hunger event in the Rapidz Fan Zone the previous Saturday.
This is a fantastic amount and I’m delighted to see such generosity, kindness and a willingness to help those in our town who are in need.
In an ongoing show of support, earlier in the week Mike Tresor and Hannes Delcroix visited the foodbank, based in Burnley town centre, to make a donation and to find out more about the facility.
It’s of great importance to me that the players make visits such as this, to learn more about the Club’s official charity and the impact it has in our local community.
This season we face a different challenge, in a league that has taught us that you have to dig in deep to grind out results. I believe we have that ability. At Burnley we work hard for everything we have, and we’ll give our everything again this afternoon.
Being back on home turf, we can all play our part. Let’s back Vincent and the players from the very first whistle.
Stick with us Clarets, we’re forever grateful for your support.
UTC!
Alan
