Good evening, welcome to Turf Moor for tonight’s game against Middlesbrough.
I was delighted with the three points at Stoke City last weekend. That’s four wins and five clean sheets on the bounce now, which is absolutely fantastic, and real testament to the hard work and togetherness of the team.
I’m enjoying seeing the team getting into its stride, in what is a challenging, relentless league. I hope we can continue this positive momentum heading into a busy festive fixture schedule.
This week also saw us drawn away to Reading in the Emirates FA Cup third round. The FA Cup is such a special, historic competition and I’m looking forward to getting our journey underway.
Staying on the topic of the cup, the women’s team booked their place in the third round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with a fantastic 11-0 victory over Bradford City last Sunday.
Rebecca’s side have now scored 23 goals in two Adobe Women’s FA Cup matches this season and have won nine straight matches in all competitions.
I’m delighted that all the hard work that the squad and staff are putting in is paying off on the pitch.
The women’s team will also be taking to the Turf Moor pitch on Saturday 14th December to face Stoke City Women in the FA Women’s National League Cup quarter final. It’s set to be a great occasion, with lots of fun activities for families on the day.
Season ticket holders can claim a free ticket for the match, and they are available online now. All support really is appreciated! You may have seen in the build up to today’s game that we are once again teaming up with our partner Vertu to collect food items for the foodbank, which is operated by our official charity Burnley FC in the Community.
Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions expected throughout Friday evening, the Vertu Festive Food Drive has been moved to Tuesday night's home game against Derby County.
There will be a sleigh situated on Harry Potts Way between 5:30-8pm, alongside two Vertu cars and our aim is to fill the cars with food donations. We received a fantastic amount of donations last year and we’d love to better the amount this year!
In addition to the Christmas display on Harry Potts Way, there will also be a donation station based in the Rapidz Fan Zone where you can donate items.
Amongst all the festivities of Christmas, it’s an important time to remember those in need who may be facing challenging circumstances. Demand for the foodbank has seen a steady increase and so any food donations, however big or small, will make a real difference this Christmas.
To those who can’t make either tonight or Tuesday's game, an online donation can be made to the Food Drive here. Thank you all for supporting us in our efforts.
Finally, thank you to everybody who submitted applications and/or questions for our Fan Forum at Burnley College next week. I look forward to seeing you all on the evening.
It’s great to be back at Turf Moor for some Friday night football under the lights.
We’ve a tough challenge ahead against a strong side, so let’s get behind Scott and the team.
As always, UTC!
Alan
