Alan's notes ahead of tonight's game

Good evening and welcome back to Turf Moor for tonight’s game against Derby County.

Friday night’s game was a hard-earned point against a strong side in Middlesbrough - in what was incredibly challenging weather conditions.

I’m pleased with the response we showed to going a goal behind and I want to thank all you supporters for braving the cold and the rain.

After the game Scott spoke of the power of the fan base and the boost your support gives the team. We can all play our part in contributing to a successful season and the power of 20,000+ people roaring you on really is something special.

I’m pleased with the work ethic being shown and that we are seeing a group of players go out there each matchday giving their all.

The adverse weather conditions at the weekend unfortunately resulted in us postponing the Vertu Festive Food Drive on Friday. However, we have rearranged for tonight’s game.

Thank you to those who dropped food at the donation station in the Rapidz Fan Zone on Friday and to everybody who brings something this evening - we’re very grateful for your support.

Staying on the topic of community, this December the players and staff will be doing their annual Christmas community visits, to worthy projects around the town.

It’s important to me that the players show their support to the local community and if these visits, at this special time of year, can bring a little joy then that makes it all worthwhile.

The players will be visiting the local hospitals, Pendleside Hospice, the foodbank, and schools, to spread some festive cheer and show their support.

Finally, we also celebrated some Northwest Football Award wins at Friday night’s game. Kirstie Levell took home Women’s Player of the Season in the FA Women’s National League at the awards ceremony which was held at Lancashire Cricket Club recently.

Kirstie’s enjoyed a brilliant campaign so far and we’re all proud of her for picking up the accolade.

Also, a special well done to the Academy and Burnley FC in the Community who were awarded the Community Initiative of the Season prize for our Academy in the Community programme.

Academy in the Community aims to equip players with skills for the future and highlight the positive work of the charity.

Our team of staff within the Academy work so hard in not only growing our young players as footballers but also ensuring that they develop into well-rounded individuals.

The young players have loved learning more about the wide range of community projects delivered by the charity and I’m thrilled that the partnership has been recognised.

Now back to tonight’s game, it’s great to be back at Turf Moor. Here’s to another positive performance under the lights.
