Good evening and welcome to Turf Moor for tonight’s game against Coventry City.
I was delighted with our win against Bristol City at the weekend, in what was very wet, rainy conditions!
A big thank you to all the travelling supporters who made the very early journey for the lunchtime kick-off. I was pleased Scott and the team could reward you with a positive performance and important three points on the day.
This week I was pleased to announce the details of our Fan Forum which we will be holding at Burnley College on Wednesday 11th December. The forum will offer the opportunity for me to sit down with you, the fans, to answer some of your questions.
I said when I arrived, that as Chairman of this football club I want to be open, and I value the opportunity to hear directly from you. We all have the same aim here, for Burnley Football Club to be successful, and I’m pleased that we’ll have the chance to come together and talk about the things that mean the most to you.
For those who can’t attend, the forum will be available on our YouTube channel shortly after the event. And to those that secure a ticket, I look forward to seeing you all there.
Now, in my programme notes I regularly talk about the fantastic work of our official charity Burnley FC in the Community. This week the spotlight was on them as we joined the league and fellow EFL clubs to celebrate the Week of Action.
The work of clubs’ community departments is integral, with the range of projects across areas including health, education, and wellbeing, reaching every corner of a fanbase.
For this year’s Week of Action Scott visited Holly Grove Primary School in Burnley to see firsthand the charity’s disability programme, Limitless Clarets.
Visits such as this really make you stop in your tracks and Scott spoke afterwards of his pleasure at meeting all the fantastic children and staff.
It’s amazing how powerful the club’s badge is and at the heart of Burnley FC is our community. We’ll forever shine a light on the incredible work the BFCitC team carry out and as a club, support their efforts as best we can.
Finally, this evening we will be acknowledging a special milestone for Jay Rodriguez, who marked his 300th appearance for Burnley at Saturday’s game at Ashton Gate.
A true Claret on and off the pitch, Jay’s a fantastic character and a consummate professional. From everybody here at Burnley Football Club, our warmest congratulations Jay!
Thank you for joining us at Turf Moor this evening, let’s aim for another three points and a great game.
UTC!
Alan
