Last week, the Club website took you through the first half of Burnley U18s’ 2025/26 season.

The period from January to May was just as exciting, featuring some big results in the FA Youth Cup and major learning experiences at first team stadiums across the country.

To look back at each month, fixture by fixture, be sure to read on!

JANUARY

The first month of the year was a mixed bag results wise, but started with an emphatic win over Norwich City in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

It finished 5-1 to the young Clarets at Carrow Road, with Kian McMahon-Brown’s four-goal haul accompanied by a composed Braidin Derbyshire finish late on.

Then came back-to-back U18 Premier League defeats to Liverpool and Manchester United, in which the Burnley goals came from Derbyshire and Luca Scanlon respectively.

January finished with a league draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Fabio So on target in the 10th minute.

FA Youth Cup journey continues

FEBRUARY

February brought two U18 level matches for Tony Philliskirk and his scholars, and the young Clarets came out on top in both encounters.

The first saw the team put six past Blackburn Rovers to claim a valuable league victory.

Derbyshire and U16 midfielder Terry Leonard were on target before the break, with James Lewis’ brace being accompanied by further strikes from Corey King and So in the second half.

The month finished with an FA Youth Cup tie against Charlton Athletic, which finished 2-0 to Burnley thanks to King and Lewis.

MARCH

March was a busy month, beginning with a hefty league reverse to Everton before a trip to Ewood Park for their FA Youth Cup quarter final with Blackburn Rovers.

After So opened the scoring there was late heartbreak for Burnley, with a stoppage-time own goal condemning them to defeat.

The young Clarets then bounced back from losing to Middlesbrough by claiming a well-earned point against Manchester City. Albert Blackie scored a stoppage-time goal of our own that day.

The month then concluded with an eight-goal thriller against Nottingham Forest, which the Midlanders were able to edge.

APRIL

Fortunes turned in April with three wins in four matches, starting by completing the league double over Sunderland.

A second trip to the Northeast in four days then finished in favour of Newcastle United, before the U18s returned to home soil to see off Stoke City 3-2.

Now fit again from injury at this point, Warren Taylor netted a brace and U16 striker Jas Mmakogu rounded off the scoring in the final third.

An opportunity to play at Derby County’s Pride Park stadium finished the month, with Destiny Okonkwo and Taylor netting our goals in a 2-1 triumph.

MAY

There were only two games to finish the season in May, and Wolves got the better of the first to claim three league points.

You couldn’t have wished for a better match for the neutral to finish the campaign, with the young Clarets beating Leeds United 7-4.

Taylor’s hat-trick stole the show, while further goals came from Lewis, Michael Stanley, Okonkwo, and Troy Savage.
