The Clarets head for the Potteries on Saturday for a double-header against neighbours Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale.
In keeping with recent campaigns, boss Sean Dyche has planned two fixtures on the same day to maximise the game-time for his squad.
He will therefore split the group, with half going to the Alexandra Stadium and half to Vale Park to face the Staffordshire League Two rivals.
David Artell’s Crewe secured the local honours by finishing 12th last season, as the Valiants battled against the drop before finishing 20th in the table under ex-Macclesfield and Shrewsbury boss John Askey.
However, Vale won both local derbies 1-0 on their way to securing their Football League status.
Askey’s side – who beat Fleetwood Town 1-0 at home in mid-week – will be playing their fifth pre-season fixture with just a fortnight to go until the start of the EFL campaign.
Crewe, meanwhile, have so far beaten Curzon Ashton and neighbours Witton Albion as they build up towards their League Two opener at home to Plymouth Argyle.
The Clarets opened their pre-season programme with a 1-0 win over Fulham at the end of their training camp in Portugal a week ago before again splitting the squad for training-ground games against Tranmere Rovers and Accrington Stanley, when most of the senior squad completed 90 minutes.
Ashley Barnes and Phil Bardsley sat out in mid-week but are likely to figure on Saturday, with Charlie Taylor also nursing a knock which has reduced his game-time so far.
Both games kick off at 3pm with tickets for both available on the day of the game.
Admission at Port Vale is £10 for adults and £5 concessions, while entry at Crewe is £7 adults, £5 seniors (60+) & £2 for juniors (U16).
