The home club has lined up a series of events to pay tribute to former club chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, one of five people killed in a helicopter crash beside the King Power Stadium following Leicester’s Premier League fixture against West Ham a fortnight ago.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was at that match and has pledged that the Clarets will do everything asked of them to play their part on what is certain to be an emotional occasion.

But the primary objective for Burnley remains the pursuit of a third league win of the season to ease their position in the bottom half of the table.

“We will pay our respects and we are there to support Leicester. But when the whistle blows, they will know we have a job to do,” said Dyche.

“We all have to take the game on and play as hard as we can to win.

“I can only imagine with the owner’s family, and what they’ve done at that club and how they know about football, they would expect that.

“And I think from both sides, that’s what will happen. For that 90-odd minutes the story will be about the game and that’s what we still have to get our minds on.

“We definitely want to perform and we definitely want points on the board.”

Burnley head for Leicester having conceded 13 goals in their last three games.

Nine of those came in games against the unbeaten pair of Chelsea and Manchester City – who have since put six past both Southampton and Shakhtar Donetsk – but Dyche is still keen to stem the flow.

“You don’t want to get lots of goals put past you, but it can happen,” he added.

“It hasn’t happened to us very often, so we just want to make sure it’s a period, rather than an on-going period, where those goals have gone in.”

And while the Clarets have hit a sticky patch, the manager is backing his players to pull through.

“I don’t forget what they’ve given me and this club, and now we want more from them,” he said.

“The demand is we want more. We want to get it back to where it was, we want to continue, we want to fight, work, punch above our weight, whatever terms you want to use.

“That’s what we’ve done historically and it’s just reminding them of those facts and that’s what we have to do.”

The Clarets are looking to secure a first win in four games and bring to an end their run of three successive defeats.

Leicester’s 1-0 win at Cardiff City last weekend was their first win in four games and lifted them to 10^th-place in the table – five places and eight points better off than Burnley.

The Foxes have won twice at home in the Premier League this season and have taken just one point from their last two fixtures at the King Power Stadium thanks to a late deflected goal against West Ham a fortnight ago.

“It’s a family and it’s important for us to honour our Chairman and pay our tribute in this game.”

Puel, who this week went to Thailand with a number of his players to attend the owner's funeral, added: “It’s not easy to prepare this game, but the togetherness between us all, it’s a good feeling, a good energy, a fantastic strength.

“Our strength, spirit and positive attitude, as well as the support of our fans, will be very important.

“In the last game, we found the right balance between emotion and concentration, and focus on our game.”

The Clarets won 1-0 at the King Power Stadium 11 years ago on Saturday, with Steve Davis in caretaker charge of the team.
