Last season saw Sean Dyche’s men start their domestic campaign away to the Saints where a 0-0 draw – between two legs of a Europa League tie against Istanbul Basaksehir – put a first point on the board.

Burnley’s second home game is a mouth-watering fixture against Champions League winners Liverpool on the last weekend of August ahead of the first international break of the season.

Before that, the Clarets go to Europa League competitors Arsenal and Wolves, with the trip to Molineux scheduled for Saturday, 24 August potentially moved back a day due to Wolves’ possible on-going European commitments.

Burnley face Sheffield United for the first time since 2011 at Bramall Lane on Saturday, 2 November, while Premier League champions Manchester City are in town for a mid-week visit on Tuesday, 3 December before the Clarets head to Tottenham’s new home the following weekend.

The festive fixtures have again fallen well from a travelling point of view, once a trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, 21 December has been negotiated.

The Clarets go to Goodison Park to face Everton on Boxing Day and then host Manchester United and newly-promoted Aston Villa in back-to-back home games.

The return visit to United again falls in mid-week in January ahead of the first ‘mid-season player break’ which features a blank weekend in February.

Following an agreement in June, 2018 between The Football Association, the Premier League and EFL, the Premier League will split one round of matches in February over two weekends, with five matches on the weekend commencing 8 February, 2020 and five on the weekend commencing 15 February.

All five matches on each weekend will be broadcast live in the UK.

The split of the matches will be decided when the UK broadcast picks for the month of February 2020 are announced, which is scheduled for an approximate date of 14 December.

For Burnley, that will concern their trip to Southampton which will be played on either of the two weekends, with Dyche squad’s getting a fortnight’s breather from competitive games following a home game against Arsenal on 1 February or ahead of a visit from Bournemouth on 22 February.

There are also the usual four international breaks included in the season’s schedule with the Clarets’ run-in following the last of them at the end of March featuring four away trips and three home games – including a finale at Turf Moor against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, 17 May.
