Clarets suffer defeat against the Reds
Tony Philliskirk's side fell to a 4-1 defeat against the Reds, at Liverpool's Academy base on Tuesday evening, in the U18 Premier League.
After an even opening 10 minutes on a frosty evening on Merseyside, the Reds opened the scoring.
As forward Oakley Cannonier broke through on goal and fired home past Lewis Thomas in the Burnley goal.
Just four minutes later the hosts double their lead, this time towering defender Billy Koumeito heading in from a corner.
And moments later it could have been three, until a perfectly-timed sliding block from Jake Rooney denied Cannonier a second and the Reds a third of the evening.
The Clarets struggled to create any real opportunities against a strong Liverpool side, as the home side looked dangerous in every attack created.
And just after the break the hosts had a third, as the lively Mateusz Musialowski broke into the box and fired past Thomas.
Liverpool then thought they had a fourth as Cannonier struck home from close range, but the former Leeds youngster was flagged for offside.
But the hosts did add a fourth in the last minute, as substitute Ethan Ennis headed home to seal the three points.
Although, Sam Unwin did then strike in a late consolation goal for the visitors, on a difficult afternoon on the West coast.
BURNLEY: Thomas, Connolly (Coppack 78), Rooney, Allison-Gallagher, Dodgson, Armstrong, Woods, Moonan, Ratchford (Hugill 78), Unwin, Behan (Smyth-Ferguson 60).
