New Deals For Under-23s
Contract latest as Clarets look to the future
The Clarets have offered new deals to six members of their Under-23 squad and extended the stays of seven others as they begin to plan for next season.
Defenders Richard Nartey (pictured) and Ryan Cooney – who has helped Morecambe reach the League Two play-off final in a successful season-long loan with the Shrimps – have been offered new contracts, along with striker Max Thompson, goalkeepers Lewis Thomas and Harry Allen and midfielder Ne-Jai Tucker.
The Clarets – whose U23 side just missed out on the play-offs in their first season in the second tier of Premier League 2 – have also taken up contract options on Anthony Glennon, Rob Harker, Lukas Jensen, Joel Mumbongo, Marc Richter, Adam Phillips and Bobby Thomas.
Midfielder Phillips, 23, (above) has enjoyed successful loan spells at Morecambe and Accrington Stanley, while defender Thomas, 20, helped Barrow stay in the Football League during an impressive loan spell at Holker Street last season.
Both remain Burnley players, along with 18-year-old striker Lewis Richardson – who last season became the youngest player to feature in the Premier League for the Clarets – Anthony Gomez-Mancini and Dara Costelloe, who are all still under contract ahead of the 2021/22 season.
However, the Clarets have released Connor Barrett, Jordan Cropper, Ismail Diallo, Marcel Elva-Fountaine, Arman Taranis, Matty Rain and midfielder Mace Goodridge, who also spent time on loan at Barrow last season.
Four scholars have been given professional deals to continue their Clarets’ careers in the shape of Owen Dodgson (above), Calen Gallagher-Allison, Sam Unwin and Ben Woods.
And staying on as third-year scholars are Fin Armstrong, Corey Brennan, Joel Connolly, Tremaine Eastmond, Joe McGlynn and Jake Rooney.
Midfielder Dylan Moonan and defender Matty Carson have been released at the end of their two-year scholarships with the Clarets and are expected to sign deals at another club.
Burnley Football Club would like to thank all departing players for their contributions during their time at Turf Moor and wish them well in their future careers.
