Burnley face FA Cup semi-finalists Wolves at Turf Moor on Saturday in Dyche’s 300^th game in charge.

And despite a four-match losing run which has left Dyche’s side just two points above the drop-zone, the Burnley boss would have taken this position at the turn of the year.

“It gets to a point, which is now, where it’s still right in our grasp, where it wasn’t at Christmas,” said Dyche.

“I think we’ve come a long way since that build-up to Christmas.

“It’s easy to forget we only had 12 points at 19 games. We’ve now got 30, so that’s a pretty healthy return. Now, we’ve got to continue to build on that.

“Since Christmas the actual form has been good. The last run has been tough, obviously. But if you mix that altogether, you’d certainly take the return in points.

“But we’ve got to get more. That’s just what it tells you on the league table.”

The Clarets hauled themselves out of the bottom three with an unbeaten eight-match run after Boxing Day.

That ended with defeat at Newcastle at the end of last month to kick off a pointless run which continued with a 2-1 loss at home to Leicester City before the international break.

Cardiff City – who occupy the final relegation place – have narrowed the gap but still have to come to Turf Moor during a run-in which could still see several sides scrambling for points.

“Whatever way you look at it, it’s still definitely revolves around us,” added Dyche, whose side has four of their final seven games at home.

“I have made the players aware of that – not that I need to.

“They are acutely aware of that and they know the script. It’s still about us delivering performances – whoever we play.”

The Clarets have welcomed back eight players from international duty with only Johann Berg Gudmundsson an injury worry.

The winger, who returned to the Barnfield Training Centre early after missing Iceland’s mid-week defeat to France, has a minor calf injury which will be assessed.

“Obviously we have to monitor the fact he missed some training and missed the game,” said Dyche.

“We looked at him today (Thursday). He was on the grass, but we will have to make a call on that.”
