Burnley's 17-match unbeaten run, extending all the way back to the first game of the season, came to an end this afternoon at Ewood Park, against a Blackburn side boasting over 300 professional appearances, in Dominic Samuel, Harry Chapman, Ben Gladwin and £7m signing Ben Brereton.

Former Reading and Coventry City striker Samuel gave the hosts the lead, before Jacob Davenport doubled Rovers' lead.

But Rob Harker clawed one back for the away side in a very dominant second-half display from Burnley.

However, despite the Clarets tasting their first loss of the season, Farrell admits he was pleased with the visitors' performance on a crisp afternoon in Blackburn, although his side had some great opportunities to draw level.

Farrell said:“I think the majority of our chances came from our press, which was great to see.

“Our shape and press was really good today, we were patient with it, forcing them to make passes they probably didn’t want to.

“We just didn’t capitalise on our chances we created, we had a great one in the first-half and then one cleared off the line.

“Then in the second half Adam had a great opportunity, but overall it’s just capitalising on the opportunities you get.

“We could of just tidied it up a little bit in midfielder, for example their first goal, they broke right through the middle and it’s a great strike from the lad, but we gave the ball away, so were then struggling, as the centre-backs have to back off and he finds the top corner.

“But I can’t remember too many saves from Legz (Adam Legzdins) to be fair, so it was a good defensive display.

“I just feel like we had some great opportunities to score and we didn’t take them.

“But they’re a re positives to take, we have gone 17 matches unbeaten and lost 2-1 at Blackburn Rovers, against a very experienced side, but it was a very good performance and we move onto Monday now.”
