The midfielder takes the first monthly prize of the season following his ever-present start to the Premier League campaign and his heroics in Europe.

Cork scored two vital goals to help propel Sean Dyche’s men through the opening two qualifying rounds of the Europa League on landmark nights at Turf Moor.

The England international headed the goal that broke Aberdeen’s resistance in extra-time in the first round as Burnley ran out 4-2 aggregate winners on their return to the European stage.

And Cork popped up again in extra-time after he came off the bench against Istanbul Basaksehir in round two to curl home a wonderful strike to seal a 1-0 victory.

“They were great nights and something we will always remember,” he said.

“They were two big wins against decent sides and it was nice to give the supporters something to enjoy after waiting so long to see us play in Europe.

“This is always a special award to win and thanks to the fans who voted for me.”

Cork topped a poll of supporters’ votes via the club website and a winner will be selected at random from those who voted to receive two match-day tickets and a signed replica shirt, as well as the chance to present the LaBa 360 trophy to the England international before an up-coming game.

Meanwhile, Cork is looking to follow the example of Bournemouth as he prepares to face the Cherries at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s side has won three and drawn one of their opening five league games to enjoy a best-ever start to a Premier League season.

But this time last year they were looking to recover from a four-game losing run at the start of the campaign.

And Cork is seeking something similar from the Clarets, who are yet to win and sit bottom of the table after losing their last four games.

“We are hoping to get back into stride and get a bit of momentum back,” said the 29-year-old, who made his senior debut in League football for Bournemouth during a loan spell from Chelsea 12 years ago.

“It’s only five games into the start of the season. I was looking into the stats from last year and Bournemouth didn’t have a win in their first four games.

“Crystal Palace didn’t have a point from their first seven games and I think they finished in the top half of the table.

“It’s too early to look at results really. We just need to knuckle down and get back to what we’re good at and hopefully the results will follow.”

Bournemouth’s recovery saw them finish 12^th last season – one place below Palace after both finished with 44 points.

The Clarets were 10 points better off as they secured seventh place on the back of an outstanding start to the season which saw them lose just three times in the Premier League before the end of November.

And Cork wants a return to that kind of resilience following back-to-back home league defeats to kick off the campaign.

“We have got the same core of players we had last year and that same team got us to seventh in the league by doing what we’re good at,” he added.

“We’ve got to stick at it and hopefully when that first win comes and we get those points on the board we can take the momentum and push on.

“Look at West Ham. They had a win last weekend and they look a completely different team.

“All of a sudden from being a team with no wins and second from bottom of the table, they are moving up and looking to start a positive season.

“We’ve got three games coming up now, with two of them at home, and it’s is a good chance to get some points on the board.

“Coming to Turf Moor we know it’s a tough place for people and we need to take advantage.”
