Sean Dyche commits future to Burnley Football Club with agreement of new long term contract

Manager Sean Dyche signs new four-year contract with Burnley Football Club

Dyche is the longest-serving manager in the Premier League and has committed his long-term future to the club, alongside assistant manager Ian Woan

Chairman Alan Pace says the move continues the club’s evolution, building on Dyche’s success as Clarets compete in sixth-straight season in the Premier League

Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce manager Sean Dyche and assistant manager Ian Woan have both signed new long-term deals until the end of the 2024-25 season.

The deal secures Dyche’s future at the club for another four years as the Clarets compete in a sixth-successive season in the Premier League.

The longest-serving manager in the Premier League will be extending a successful nine-year spell at the helm which has seen two promotions from the Championship, two top-half Premier League finishes and qualification for Europe for the first time in 51 years.

And with the 50-year-old committing his future to Burnley FC, Dyche said he was pleased to end the speculation and look towards delivering results in the current campaign.

Sean Dyche said: “It is nice to be able to get this deal completed and now look towards the future of this football club, and its constant evolution.

“I have a strong affinity with the area and our supporters after so many years here and I look forward to putting in the hard work needed to keep the club moving in the right direction.

“It was an important summer for us to add talent and depth to the team, but the work doesn’t stop there. As a club we’re about developing and improving players and the environment we foster here is so important to that.

“I am looking forward to continuing to develop that environment, work with a great group of players and coaches and to build on the positive relationship with our new ownership headed up by Alan.”

Dyche took over as Burnley FC manager in October 2012 following a season at Watford and steered the club to an 11th place finish in the Championship. The following season, he guided the club to second place and with-it promotion to the Premier League following a four-year absence.

Despite relegation from the Premier League, the club consolidated under the former defender and returned to the top-flight as champions the very next season, before securing Premier League status. The Clarets have now registered six successive campaigns in the top-flight.

In that period the club achieved its best finish since 1974 with a seventh-place finish in the 2017-18 Premier League season which also saw the Clarets qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

Chairman Alan Pace said the club was delighted to secure one of its key assets and highlighted the move continues the evolution of Burnley under the ownership of ALK Capital.

Alan Pace, Chairman of Burnley FC, said: “As I’ve said many times before, we are huge fans of what Sean has achieved at this club.

“We were delighted to be able to offer Sean backing in the transfer market this summer and continue the evolution of this team, as part of our wider growth strategy for the club.

“It was important for everyone to get this deal over the line and look towards the club’s future starting with this current Premier League season. I look forward to working closely with Sean and his team over the coming seasons as we seek to raise the bar and build on the solid foundations that have been laid over the past nine years.”

“I have a strong affinity with the area and our supporters after so many years here and I look forward to putting in the hard work needed to keep the club moving in the right direction.
