Burnley kick off the second half of their Premier League campaign against West Ham at Turf Moor on Sunday (kick-off 2.15pm).

Dyche’s men need a response following a 5-1 Boxing Day defeat to Everton, which left them three points adrift in the relegation places.

And the manager says they must trust in their instincts to do it.

“We’ve got to stay strong to our beliefs and keep delivering on that and also remind ourselves of the positive side,” said Dyche.

“When we play how we play, and we do make it awkward for teams while being a threat, then we have shown we can get results and I think that’s important to remember.

“I believe in what we do, I believe in the squad and I believe we have players here who can be effective.

“But I equally believe it has to happen pretty quickly. We can’t just keep waiting week-on-week and me saying performances are improving, even though generally over the past how many games I think they have. You’ve got to turn performances into wins.”

The Clarets have won just three times so far this season, with the defeat to Everton a ninth loss in the last 11 matches.

But before the Everton set-back there were definite signs of progress – including a vital 1-0 home victory over Brighton in their previous Turf Moor outing.

And Dyche is now looking to start moving up the table during a run of games which sees them face just one team higher-ranked than the ninth-placed Hammers between now and a visit to Brighton on 9 February.

“All games are important, but it’s a different story going against some clubs than it is others, home and away,” added the Burnley boss, whose side then kicks off the New Year at bottom club Huddersfield Town next Wednesday night.

“I think there’s a group of teams we have to challenge ourselves against and we’re playing some of them in the next four games.

“Also, beyond that, there is a clutch of games where we’ve got one of the big teams in there and the rest are teams we’d like to think we should be competing against.”

Defender Matt Lowton will miss the visit of West Ham through suspension after picking up a fifth booking of the season in the game against Everton.

And Steven Defour and Robbie Brady are also unlikely to be back to face the Hammers.
