The Clarets wide-man is yet to feature for the first team this season after suffering a fractured rib at the end of July.

But after a 75-minute run out in a behind closed doors game last week, the Ireland international came though unscathed against Rangers to edge closer to contention.

The Clarets dominated their latest PDL game at Turf Moor, but failed to make the breakthrough despite carving out a number of good chances.

And in the end they were thankful to goalkeeper George McMahon for a first half penalty save that earned a fourth successive draw in an unbeaten start to the season.

Brady was at the heart of most of Burnley’s industry, with a succession of inviting dead-ball deliveries and crosses causing constant flutters in the visitors’ defence.

The winger was straight into the action with a trademark free kick whipped into the box that just evaded the in-rushing Bobby Thomas.

Ten minutes in, Rangers had a glorious chance to open the scoring from 12 yards, when Josh Benson was late on Ody Alfa in the box. However, Clarets keeper McMahon, a late change to the starting line-up, brilliantly saved the resulting penalty from Lewis Walker.

Back came Burnley and from another sweet Brady free kick, Bobby Thomas was twice denied by R’s keeper Tyla Dickinson, first with a firm downward header and then from a point-blank follow-up at the foot of the post.

As Burnley continued to press, Ryan Cooney then forced another fine save from Dickinson with a wicked angled drive from the corner of the box.

The second half began with Burnley again in the ascendancy - and Brady, booked just before the break for a foul, was again heavily involved in the first opening, feeding Rob Harker for a fierce rising drive that was just too high.

As the half wore on, the hosts’ dominance grew and the same players were again involved in the best chance of the half.

Brady, who was now at the heart of all of Burnley’s best work, released the striker with the pass of the match, but Harker’s low effort was straight at Dickinson.

Ten minutes from time, the Irishman was again the architect, threading a ball into Phillips path for a shot that was saved by Dickinson, with McGlynn’s resulting effort crucially blocked.

And despite wave after wave of attacks as the clock ticked down, the Clarets could not make the all-important breakthrough, with Brady being denied at the death by yet another smart save from Dickinson.
