Only 23 players have scored more than Crouch’s 108 goals since the inception of the Premier League in 1992.

The 38-year-old just needs four more to climb into the top 20, with three of those standing in his way all retired.

And Crouch is backing his ability to keep finding the net and help Burnley pull away from the league’s bottom three.

“I still want to achieve things. I want to get more games in the Premier League and I would love to add to the 100 Premier League goals,” said the former England international after leaving Stoke City to join the Clarets on a deal until the end of the season.

“If I can add to that and get up the list that would be great as well, and hopefully that will all cumulate in Burnley moving forward.

“It’s a club that is stable in the Premier League now. We’ve got to make sure we stay there this year and build on that.

“For me it’s a great place to be and I’m really excited to get started.

“My game has probably changed a little bit. I’m not 25. But my attributes haven’t waned. I never really had blistering pace, so I haven’t lost that.

“I know I can impact games at this level. I scored goals last season in the Premier League and I know I will do the same again if given the opportunity this year.

“I’ve got to work very hard. We’ve got a good side here at Burnley and certainly some good strikers as well.

“I’m looking forward to working with them and I look forward to hopefully playing enough games.

“And I know that if I do play enough games, I can have an impact and a positive effect at this football club.”

Crouch has made Burnley his seventh Premier League club after starting his top-flight career at Aston Villa in 2002.

He celebrated his 38^th birthday yesterday (Wednesday) but has no intention of winding down a career that has also brought him 42 England caps and 22 international goals.

“I feel like the older I get, the more hungry I get,” Crouch told Clarets Player HD.

“You can sort of see the end. I still feel fit, I train every day and I do everything the lads do.

“I want to be involved in every single game. I’m hungry and I have the will to succeed and hopefully prove people wrong.

“I feel like I’ve been doing that my whole career, so that won’t change and I still love it.

“The moment I stop enjoying it, is the moment to knock it on the head.

“I’ll be doing as well as I can this year, and who knows after that?

“I remember when Mark Hughes was manager (at Stoke). I think he played until he was 40-odd and that was a target I had.

“I’d love to do that and hopefully I can do that in the Premier League with Burnley.”
