League One MK Dons to visit Turf Moor in FA Cup opener
The Clarets will launch their FA Cup challenge at home to MK Dons.
The competition’s third-round draw paired Sean Dyche’s men with the League One side, who will visit Turf Moor on the weekend of 8-11 January.
The two clubs previously met in the FA Cup in January, 2010 when goals from Graham Alexander and Steven Fletcher gave the Clarets a 2-1 away win in Owen Coyle’s last game as manager.
The Dons – who also lost a League Cup tie at Burnley in September, 2011 – are currently 18th in League One under former Norwich City and MK defender Russell Martin.
Martin's side reached the third round by beating Eastleigh on penalties and then winning 1-0 Barnet in round two.
The last time the clubs met, the Clarets won 5-0 at Stadium MK on the way to promotion from the Championship under Sean Dyche with current defender Matt Lowton among the names on the scoresheet with his only Burnley goal to date.
Dates and kick-off times for the third-round tie will be announced as soon as possible.
