Koiki scored twice from the penalty spot and then pounced to complete his treble to make it six goals for the season since his switch to a more advanced left-sided role.

Koiki’s efforts helped make it back-to-back Professional Development League wins for Steve Stone’s side who are now unbeaten in six games this season as they continue their climb up the north section.

Ipswich sit bottom of the southern group and are yet to earn a point.

But Town were no pushovers with a vastly more experienced line-up which included a handful of players with a taste of first-team football to their name.

The Clarets, therefore, had to earn everything they got, and they did so in impressive style with a rock-solid performance which came within a minute of earning a clean sheet on his debut for goalkeeper Lukas Jensen.

The big Dane – who has played second-tier football in his home country – has signed a deal at Turf Moor following a spell on trial, although the 20-year-old didn’t have much cause to over-extend himself as the Clarets eased to victory.

Most of the attacking threat came from the home side, playing at Curzon Ashton for the first time this season, with two 16-year-olds leading the front line in Lewis Richardson and Joe McGlynn.

They faced a major physical test but came through with flying colours, Richardson earning both spot-kicks which came either side of the break.

The first followed a foul from former Accrington Stanley and Shrewsbury defender Aristotle Nsiallam who pulled the Clarets’ teenager back after he had got goalside of the Ipswich man.

Koiki drilled his effort straight down the middle to put Burnley ahead and there could have been another penalty when Barry Cotter got away with a pull on McGlynn as he raced through onto a neat Adam Phillips’ pass.

Ipswich missed a chance to level through Ben Folami but the Clarets then took complete control after the break.

Nine minutes into the second half Koiki got his second when he curled a penalty into the top corner after his shot had been spilled by goalkeeper Adam Przybek and Richardson was tripped by the Ipswich keeper as he pounced on the rebound.

And it was 3-0 with just over an hour gone when Koiki went one better than the double he bagged in beating Charlton a week ago when he reacted quickest to tap in after a Richardson shot had been parried.

Richardson was then denied a goal of his own when Przybek spread himself to block superbly after the striker had connected with a through ball from fellow youth-teamer Ne-Jai Tucker.

And as Burnley eased off late on, Ipswich got a last-minute consolation as their belated pressure paid off with a last-minute goal for substitute Riley Scott – the only blot on another positive afternoon for the young Clarets.
